Westminster freshmen place first at National History Day competition

Two freshmen from Westminster Schools of Augusta recently placed first in Georgia at the National History Day competition.

Kate Lynch and Christina Brown achieved the honors for their documentary on Grace Abbott – an American social worker who sought to improve the rights of immigrants. Lynch and Brown will compete at the national level in June, according to a news release from Westminster.

Fellow Westminster student Jack Baker also qualified for the national contest for his historical paper on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer was a German pastor and founding member of the Confessing Church.

The national contest will take place June 11-15 at the University of Maryland.
