Pardon Our Mess: Stormwater runoff

WHAT: Stormwater runoff lies near an enlarged culvert at a construction site. Sediments from construction sites are supposed to be kept from running into streams and rivers, according to South Carolina Department of Transportation regulations. Regulations also require weekly inspections to ensure water standards compliance. According to SCDOT, discolored water does not necessarily mean the controlled sediments are found in the outflow.

WHERE: Buena Vista Avenue in North Augusta in the ongoing street expansion project.

WHO’S RESPONSIBLE: South Carolina Department of Transportation

ACTION PROMISED: An SCDOT spokesman said the organization will examine the basin to determine its need for cleanup.
