Westminster wins state literary title

The literary team at Westminster Schools of Augusta captured the state championship last week at Valdosta State University.

In all, Westminster competitors placed in seven out of eight events. Earning first place honors were Elizabeth Carter (U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking) and Michael Head (International Extemporaneous Speaking). Capturing second place were Kaleigh Anderson and Ellie Lynch (duo interpretation), while third place honors went to Alyssa Carrad (spelling), Emily Miller (rhetorical analysis essay), Elizabeth Carter (argumentative essay) and Eliza Epps (girls solo).

The championship marks Westminster’s third state title in fine arts this year. The school previously won first place in one-act and debate.
