Emergency response teams at Savannah River Site will conduct an active shooter drill Wednesday.
According to a release from the Department of Energy, the drill will be in B Area. The active shooter scenario will include emergency channel communications and other broadcast notifications as part of the drill.
At 1 p.m., the SRS security contract company Centerra will discharge blank ammunition to simulate the scenario’s gunfire. The DOE release said building occupants won’t need to take any action and public announcements will be made at the beginning and end of the training scenario.
The Energy Department said the drill will be placed on hold or terminated in case of a real-world emergency. The training event is scheduled to take place between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
