Arrest made in morning stabbing

An Augusta man was arrested early Sunday in connection with a stabbing outside the Gordon Highway Inn.

According to a news release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Maximillion Sharks Childs, 44, 2200 block of Tudor Drive, was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during a crime. He was arrested after running from the parking lot of the motel at 1520 Gordon Highway around 3 a.m.

A sheriff’s department spokesman said Childs twice stabbed another man in the back during an argument about a woman. The victim’s injuries do not appear life-threatening.
