Savannah River Nuclear Solutions was recently awarded United Way’s highest honor when the non-profit organization recognized the company for exceptional employee donations in 2016.

The United Way of the CSRA said its 2016 campaign total was over $3.3 million, of which $400,000 came from SRNS employee donations. The United Way’s Pinnacle Award recognizes the company with the highest employee donation total each year.

SRNS employees gave a $1.2 million to nine total United Way agencies from the region, including ones in Screven, Barnwell and McDuffie counties.

“We are so grateful for the generosity shown by SRNS employees, past and present,” said LaVerne Gold, President and CEO, United Way of the CSRA. “Whether in good times or bad, they go above and beyond, entrusting us with their time, talent and treasure to change the lives of so many people in our community.”

“SRS employees have been involved in this kind of community donation since 1952,” said Caroline Reppert, spokeswoman for SRNS. “It’s something that is really important to the employees.”

The donations support community programs like the United Way of the CSRA’s 46 educational, financial stability and health programs throughout the Augusta area.

“Thank you to all SRNS employees for making last year’s campaign a tremendous success,” said Carter Hopkins, 2016 SRNS United Way campaign chair. “We wouldn’t be able to accomplish this without the ingenuity of our employees, who are always thinking of creative ways to fundraise through sports tournaments, bake sales, chili cook-offs and silent auctions, among many other special activities.”
