Jumper’s note leads to another dead body

ATLANTA — DeKalb County police say a suicide note left by a man who jumped from a freeway overpass has led them to a second body.

The man leaped from an overpass at the convergence of Interstates 85 and 285 in northeast Atlanta on Monday morning.

Department spokeswoman Mekka Parish said a note found in the man’s car led authorities to a house where a second man’s body was found, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The county medical examiner is working to determine the second man’s cause of death, Parish said. She said his body showed no obvious signs of trauma.

Neither man’s identity has been released.

Charges upgraded in death of 5-year-old

FORSYTH, GA. — Charges of felony murder and aggravated battery have been filed in last month’s death of a 5-year-old Monroe County girl.

Charges have been upgraded against Amanda Hendrickson, 33, and Roderick Buckner, 34, in the death of Heaven Woods, Hendrickson’s daughter. Both were initially charged with child cruelty.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Sherry Lang said Hendrickson had been involved with the Department of Family and Children Services before Woods’ death. Investigators have said the girl died of blunt force trauma to her abdomen.
