MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. — Four people are safe after a Coast Guard crew rescued them from the waters of the Wando River in Mount Pleasant.

The Coast Guard says the four were in a 19-foot boat when it struck a buoy early Friday morning.

Three of those in the boat clung to the buoy for about an hour before they were rescued. The fourth swam to a nearby island.

They were rescued about 1:15 a.m. Friday.

One of those on the boat suffered a minor injury.
