Residents say coyotes prowl Atlanta neighborhood

ATLANTA — Residents of an Atlanta neighborhood are trying to come up with a plan to protect their pets from coyotes.

People living in the area on the city's northwest side tell WSB-TV that surveillance video showed a pack of the animals running down a street early Saturday morning.

Renee Wright says she blames coyotes for killing her cat in front of her home. Wright says that if the coyotes are willing to attack a 20-pound cat just before dawn, it's probably not safe to walk small dogs in the neighborhood.

In April, the mauling of a dog in the Roswell area just north of Atlanta renewed concerns about coyotes that prowl subdivisions. In that attack, Joe Feinberg says coyotes left his 40-pound Australian shepherd mix with several gash wounds.
