Residents say coyotes prowl Atlanta neighborhood

  • Follow News

ATLANTA — Residents of an Atlanta neighborhood are trying to come up with a plan to protect their pets from coyotes.

People living in the area on the city's northwest side tell WSB-TV that surveillance video showed a pack of the animals running down a street early Saturday morning.

Renee Wright says she blames coyotes for killing her cat in front of her home. Wright says that if the coyotes are willing to attack a 20-pound cat just before dawn, it's probably not safe to walk small dogs in the neighborhood.

In April, the mauling of a dog in the Roswell area just north of Atlanta renewed concerns about coyotes that prowl subdivisions. In that attack, Joe Feinberg says coyotes left his 40-pound Australian shepherd mix with several gash wounds.

It is probably time that the DNR get involved, and trap/move these coyotes back up to North Georgia. They are in Alpharetta as well.

Coyotes protected? Where?

It is open season on them around here. They are very elusive animals, so I don't expect to see one long enough to do anything; but if he stands still long enough, I'll send hm on his way carrying some extra lead.

For that matter;

Put a bounty on the blasted things and turn the good 'ol boys loose on them to make a few extra bucks.
