School board plans Tuesday meetings

The Richmond County school board will hold three back-to-back meetings Tuesday afternoon.

A called meeting of the board’s Instruction Committee to discuss Georgia’s new math curriculum starts at 3 p.m.

The monthly committee meeting is set for 4 p.m. Highlights of the lengthy agenda are approval of a tax allocation district (Finance Committee), an update on transportation for Lucy C. Laney High School students and Georgia High School Association realignment (both by Student Services Committee).

The regular board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. but could start as early as 5:30 p.m., depending on when the committee meeting adjourns.

The regular meeting will include a vote on the redistricting proposal that was unanimously approved by an ad hoc committee made up of Augusta Commission, school board and legislative delegation members, then rejected in a 5-5 vote last week by the commission.
