Two Augusta churchs win Wal-Mart grants for food pantries

Two Augusta churches won $20,000 grants from Wal-Mart to update food pantry facilities, according to a news release.

Bible Deliverance Temple and Vineyard Church of Augusta were among 75 pantries to receive grants totaling $1.5 million.

The churches competed in Wal-Mart’s Food Pantry Holiday Makeover campaign to collect the most votes on Facebook. The competition began Dec. 2 and ended Friday.

The grants must be used to renovate food pantry facilities or purchase equipment, such as refrigerators, ovens, stove and storage units.
