Woman killed in Thurmond Lake accident


A 45-year-old woman was killed Sun­day after hitting a tree while riding a personal watercraft at Thurmond Lake, officials said.

McCormick County Deputy Cor­o­ner Chris Doolittle said Lisa Gepfert hit the tree while riding near the Modoc Shores subdivision between Beauregard and Con­fed­­erate drives. She suffered blunt force trauma to the chest and was pronounced dead about 1 p.m.

Doolittle said there will be no autopsy, but a toxicology report will be conducted.
