Empty Stocking Fund: Unemployed Augusta mom seeks help for four daughters

An Augusta woman who survived infection and several surgeries this year is looking for help at Christmas for her children.

“I had seven surgeries within two weeks,” she writes. “I was released from a doctor’s care just last month, but have been unable to find work. I cannot afford Christmas presents for my four daughters. I just want them to have something under the tree. My daughters have long had disappointment. Their father was hit and killed by a car in 2001.

“We are having a hard time just keeping food in the house right now. I hope to find a job soon but I have not had much luck.”

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 83 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $93,000 that helped children and families across the region.
