Teen trying to sell shoes via Twitter is attacked by 5 men

A Hephzibah teen who tried to sell a pair of Nike Jordan tennis shoes through Twitter was jumped by five men when he showed up to complete the sale Tuesday afternoon, according to a Richmond County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The 19-year-old told a deputy that he advertised the shoes on the social networking Web site Twitter. He received a call from a man interested in buying the shoes, and went to the ball park at the Diamond Lakes Community Center in Hephzibah to meet him about 4 p.m., according to the report.

While they were talking, four other men came from around the corner. All five jumped him, hit and kicked him. The men took the shoes, valued at $200, along with his cell phone, $100 in cash, and car keys, according to the incident report.

The man who met with the teen was wearing a black shirt and cargo shorts and was described as having light skin, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and 160 pounds, with wavy hair. The other four were described as having dark skin, with three of the four about 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighing 180 pounds. The fourth was 6 feet tall and weighed about 230 pounds, according to the report.
