North Augusta family struggles

A North Augusta family lost its belongings in a house fire and now faces a bleak Christmas.

“My husband is out of work,” a woman writes, “and we have to come up with the money for utilities so we can move into a new place.

“The father of my children is in prison and they get no help from him. My husband takes care of us now. We would be very thankful if you could help us. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.”

The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 81 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $115,000 that helped children and families across the region.
