A single mother from Thomson needs help this holiday to keep her children fed and her transportation in shape for a daily drive to a job in Augusta.
“I commute two hours a day in order to provide for three children and myself,” she writes. “I must find a way to maintain my household, provide the basic needs for my children and provide some type of support for a child who wishes to attend college in January.
“I must also make sure my only means of transportation is well-maintained and that I have money for fuel. Any consideration and assistance provided will be greatly appreciated.”
The Augusta Chronicle’s Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 81 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $115,000, which helped children and families across the region.
