A 63-year-old grandmother with custody of three children whose mother went to prison wants a brighter holiday for the youngsters – ages 3, 7 and 9.
“I am retired, and it is taking all my funds to maintain the household,” she writes.
“This is the first Christmas they will be away from their mother, and I am doing my best to make the holiday a little more enjoyable for them.
“All I want to do this year is bring some smiles to their faces on Christmas.
“I would appreciate any help.”
The Augusta Chronicle Empty Stocking Fund has helped people such as this for 81 years. Last year, the charity raised more than $115,000 that helped children and families across the region.
