Richmond County Farm Bureau to mark National Farm-City Week with drop-in event

The Richmond County Farm Bureau is having a “drop-in” to celebrate National Farm-City Week.

The event is being held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Richmond County Farm Bureau office at 2550 Highway 88 in Hephzibah.

According to a news release, this is the 56th annual Farm-City Week. The purpose is to celebrate the partnership between farmers and the people who help prepare, transport, market and retail the products farmers grow.

The Farm Bureau hopes to bring together farmers, retailers and consumers who wouldn’t normally interact to discuss the issues around farming, including the economics of it.

“Food and clothes don’t just magically appear in stores,” Tommy Rider, Richmond County Farm Bureau president, said in the news release. “Georgia farmers work year-round on their farms to grow cotton and produce delicious beef, chicken, peanuts, milk, pecans, peaches, watermelon and other fruits and vegetables that we all love to eat.”
