Killed: Oct. 30, 2004 when a car bomb detonated next to his convoy in Fallujah.

Medals: Purple Heart; Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Scarborough joined the Marines in 2001 and was a member of the Corps' elite Force Recon. He was assigned to Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii.

He is a 1995 graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.

Scarborough is buried next to his grandfather and namesake, a World War II veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart. A granite memorial honoring Scarborough was placed at the Wilkes County Courthouse lawn in 2006.
