Art Meets Fashion comes to Augusta on Sunday

The Art Meets Fashion Ex’po’s[’e] IV Spring Fashion Extravaganza is bringing the world of fashion to Augusta on Sunday.

The runway-inspired fashion experience at Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center will feature local and national fashion designers, boutiques, live music, and visual and performance artists.

This is the first stop on a multi-city tour that includes Atlanta, Savannah, Ga., Birmingham, Ala., Charlotte, N.C., and Columbia, said local organizer Oscar Jessie, of GreenSpace International Group.

“There hasn’t been a fashion presence in the Augusta community for some years now. I just wanted to revive that,” Jessie said.

More than 40 runway models will wear spring fashions from local boutiques, regional designers and national department stores.

In addition to fashion, the event will incorporate other art forms, such as visual art, poetry and live music, he said.

The event will also include a visionary award presentation to Robert “Flash” Gordon, the longtime owner of Pyramid Music. There will also be a tribute to the late Whitney Houston.

Proceeds from the event will benefit local nonprofit organizations.
