Augusta native and golfing great Jim Dent will be inducted Tuesday into the Augusta Museum of History’s Hall of Legends.
Dent, who will attend, gained an interest in golf as a youngster, caddying at Augusta National Golf Club and Augusta Country Club.
During his PGA Tour career, Dent’s best showing was a runner-up finish in the Walt Disney World Open Invitational. On the Senior PGA Tour (now called the Champions Tour), Dent won 12 tournaments between 1989 and 1998, winning and grossing more than $9 million.
He was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame in January 1994 and named to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
Tuesday’s reception will include a ceremony to unveil a display case with golf clubs, shoes and other items Dent has donated to the museum.
The Augusta Museum of History is at 560 Reynolds St. in Augusta. During Masters Week, the museum is open all week long. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
