Donated comforters to benefit Augusta homeless children

Homeless children in Augusta will receive new bedding thanks to a promotion of The Company Store.

On Tuesday, 300 comforters were dropped off at Interfaith Hospitality Network of Augusta to be distributed by local agencies that serve the homeless, including Action Ministries Augusta and GAP Ministries.

“We are so grateful that The Company Store has made this possible,” said Sarah MacDonald, the executive director of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Augusta, which offers short-term and transitional housing for the homeless.

When customers buy a comforter from The Company Store, one is donated to a homeless child. The “Buy One, Give One” promotion runs through March 31. While the store doesn’t have any Augusta locations, the offer includes online purchases.

“They’ve given away thousands across the U.S.,” MacDonald said. “They’re all twin-sized comforters in really fun patterns, polka-dots and superheroes.”

It really gives each child something “to call their own,” she said. “That’s what makes this so special for the kids. So many of them haven’t had a bed to themselves, let alone a comforter.”
