What is it?

Last week’s photo showed the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid. For a better view of the sedan and a road test, see this week’s review.

Chosen randomly from the correct entries was Sonny Tucker. He wins a prize from The Augusta Chronicle. Other readers identifying the vehicle were:

CANTON, GA.: David Anderson wrote: “The chrome strip at the lower edge of the taillight as well as the lighter color interior are unique to the hybrid version of the Jetta. The interior color is called Cornsilk Beige, and on the nonhybrid models is only available as a two-tone interior package.

“Touting itself as the hybrid that can also go vroom, it still promises a combined 42/48 mpg. The drivetrain consists of a 150-horsepower, 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that, when combined with the electric motor, produces a total 170 horsepower. At highway speeds the gas engine will disengage and just let the car coast; VW refers to this as ‘sailing.’

“Volkswagen has made significant in-roads into the lucrative, affordable family sedan market and hopes to so even more with this hybrid. It is certainly one of the most competitively priced hybrids available.

“At the local VW dealership I pass commuting to work, there is always a line of cars at the service entrance in the mornings. I’m not so sure that’s a good thing.”

EVANS: Jerry Paul

MARTINEZ: Jim Muraski

PERRY, FLA.: Larry Anderson guessed the Jetta this week, and he correctly identified last week’s Scion FR-S but his answer was inadvertently omitted from the results.

SHAWANO, WIS.: Karen McKenna.

Can you tell us the make and model of this new vehicle? For instance, you might guess: Pontiac Banshee.

If you know what it is, call (706) 823-3419 or send an e-mail to glynn.moore@augustachronicle.com.

Please tell us your name and telephone number and the city you live in. It helps if you spell your name for us so we can include your response along with everybody else’s.

You have until noon Wednesday to respond. A winner will be chosen randomly. If you win, let us know when you would like to pick up your prize.
