Woman, 76, dies in house fire

Authorities say a house fire claimed the life of a 76-year-old woman Sunday morning.

According to a statement from the Richmond County coroner’s office, the fire was reported about 7 a.m. at 4160 Windsor Spring Road, where sheriff’s deputies and firefighters found a body in a bedroom.

Delores Ann Strickland, of Heph­zibah, was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 a.m. An autopsy will be conducted at the Geor­gia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab in Atlanta this week.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation, a news release said.
