Traffic backed up on Washington Road

According to Richmond County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Shane McDaniel, traffic is currently “stop and go” on Washington Road but “is flowing at a decent pace.”

“I’d say it’s a little heavy for a Thursday night,” McDaniel said. “But it would be pretty average travel time for a Friday or Saturday.”

McDaniel stated that numerous traffic lights are still malfunctioning, but deputies are helping direct cars at the intersections of Berckmans and Washington roads and Boy Scout and Washington roads.

“I’ve seen Washington Road a lot worse than it is tonight,” McDaniel said. “It’s not perfect but it’s nothing too crazy.”
