Augusta Regional Airport receives FAA safety award

The Federal Aviation Administration honored Augusta Regional Airport for ongoing efforts to improve airport safety.

Augusta Regional was one of five airports in the Southeast to win the Airport Safety Mark of Distinction, according to a news release. The airport was recognized for Aircraft Rescue Firefighting training improvements, prevention of runway incursions and development of a Wildlife Hazard Management plan, among other improvements.

Nominations for are based on recommendations from the FAA safety inspector assigned to the airport.
