Government shutdown closes Fort Gordon's commissary

The Fort Gordon commissary has been closed as part of the government shutdown.

The Defense Commissary Agency announced in a news release last week that all stateside commissaries would close in the event of a shutdown.

A Fort Gordon spokesman said Thursday that the Army post’s commissary stayed open Tuesday to reduce the perishables on hand before beginning a systematic closing at the end of the business day.
