Public hearing on Project Jackson set for Tuesday night

The public will get its chance to be heard on Project Jackson on Tuesday evening.

The 6 p.m. public hearing will be at the Aiken Technical College auditorium after a standing-room-only Aiken County Council meeting in August demonstrated a need for a large meeting space.

During the August meeting, the council considered the project an “ordinance,” which requires three votes – called readings – plus a public hearing.

The Project Jackson development on the North Augusta riverfront would include a baseball stadium for the Augusta GreenJackets, a 200-room resort-style hotel and conference center, restaurants, office and retail space, apartments and townhomes.
