Augusta catches break from rain

After enduring pounding rain for most of the week, the Augusta area caught a bit of a break Friday.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Michael Cammarata said Augusta Regional Airport received only .56 inch of rain in a 24-hour period Friday. Nearby Daniel Field received even less – .42 inch.

There were no weather advisories as of Friday night, but rain is expected to make a weekend return.

“We expect (the showers) to continue tomorrow,” he said. “It will most likely take the form of scattered showers throughout the day.”

Saturday afternoon has a 60 to 70 percent chance of showers. Sunday has only a 45 percent chance of rain.
