Riverwalk Augusta beating victim returned home Tuesday

The victim of a May 3 brutal beating on Riverwalk Augusta returned home Tuesday.

Wesley Spires, of Edgefield, S.C., was discharged from Walton Rehabilitation, where he was treated for about two weeks after his release from Georgia Regents Medical Center, his cousin Michelle Birt said.

Spires and Ashley Solesbee, of North Augusta, were robbed and beaten with a metal bat while sitting on a bench near the former Fort Discovery on the riverwalk.

Spires suffered a skull fracture and broken hand. Solesbee was released from the hospital May 6.

Kevin Devonte Richardson and Robey Eugene Moses, both 21, were charged in the attack.

Spires will continue outpatient physical therapy at Walton Rehabilitation, Birt said.
