A child died and two other people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning at Peach Orchard and Willis Foreman roads.
Jamal Lovett, 7, and two others were flown to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, where Jamal was pronounced dead at 9:07 a.m.
Southbound Peach Orchard Road remained closed for hours after the crash while police collected evidence.
Richmond County sheriff’s Capt. Scott Gay said a white Honda Accord was northbound on Peach Orchard Road about 8:20 a.m. when the driver tried to turn left onto Willis Foreman Road and collided with a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup.
The pickup struck the Honda on the passenger side, causing the car to split in two and the child in the back seat to be ejected.
