Martinez woman dies from Wednesday night wreck

A Martinez woman died Thursday from injuries suffered in a crash the night before on Washington Road in Evans.

Jordan Elizabeth White, 19, of Springlakes Drive, died at 12:42 p.m. at Medical College of Georgia Hospital, said Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins.

The 2011 Evans High School graduate was studying at Augusta State University and worked at Firehouse Subs, according to her Facebook page.

She was airlifted to the hospital after the wreck, which occurred just before midnight.

White’s passengers, Corey Davis, 19, of Cyndee Circle in Martinez, and Clinton Guyman, 22, of Belglade Road in Grovetown, were taken to the hospital by ambulance, according to a Columbia County sheriff’s report.

Charges are pending against Lucky Wade Jackson Jr., 43, of Buxton Drive in Evans, pending the results of a blood-alcohol test, sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said.

White was turning left from Ronald Reagan Drive about 11:45 p.m. when Jackson, driving a Ford F-250 truck, ran the red light heading west, hitting the driver’s side of White’s Honda Accord, according to the report.

Jackson’s truck crossed the center line and hit a stopped tractor-trailer, according to the report.

Jackson suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from MCG. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn’t injured.

White is the second traffic fatality in Columbia County in four days.

Alejandro Reyes-Romero, 35, of Hereford Farm Road in Evans, died Monday night after he was ejected from a vehicle in which he was riding. He was not wearing a seat belt, Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison said.

Alfonzo Nelle-Lopez, 28, of Hereford Farm Road, was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, open container, failure to maintain lane and driving without a license.

About 7:15 p.m. Monday, Nelle-Lopez lost control of his vehicle on Columbia Road and went off the road, an incident report said. The vehicle skidded across oncoming lanes and onto the opposite shoulder and rolled at least once. Reyes-Romero died at the scene.
