One woman is dead and two men are hospitalized, police say, after a motorist drove through a stop sign and hit the woman’s car late Saturday in Aiken.
About 10:50 p.m., Chris and Stacia Mock were driving east on Reynolds Pond Road when William Currie, 48, ran a stop sign traveling south on Pipeline Road and hit them, causing the Mocks’ Toyota to run off the road and hit a tree, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly.
Stacia Mock, 43, was prounounced dead at the scene, according to an e-mail from Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.
Chris Mock and Currie were taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital’s shock trauma unit where Mock is in serious condition, Kelly said. Currie’s condition was not released.
Carlton said the accident was witnessed by family members following the Mocks. The South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash.
