Teenage pedestrian hit in Grovetown

A Grovetown teen was seriously injured Tuesday when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle on Hereford Farm Road.

Corey Allan Morin, 17, of Devon Road, was on his way to a friend’s house about 4 p.m. He was standing on the edge of Hereford Farm Road near Lewiston Elementary School and looked away from southbound vehicles, Columbia County sheriff’s Sgt. A.J. Lyons said.

Morin stepped into the road in front of a Ford Escape driven by Brian David Pregrove, 42, of Cannock Street in Grovetown.

The teen was taken to Medical College of Georgia Hospital with serious injuries, Lyons said.

Pregrove was not charged.

For a short time, authorities closed Hereford Farm Road to deal with the accident. Later, the road reopened to a single lane.
