Suspicious liquid found on Boy Scout Road

Firefighters and utility workers tried to determine the source of a suspicious liquid in a stream on the 200 block of Boy Scout Road Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Richmond County Fire Battalion Chief Michael Weathers said a man was walking by the area when he smelled a strong odor of gasoline and called police. They have since put out barricades to stop the liquid from continuing downstream.

He said they were not sure if it is gasoline and would wait to see if it dissipates.
