Strong storms expected Wednesday

Severe storms bringing strong winds and hail are expected to hit the area Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to start rising into the mid-70s on Tuesday.

“That’s going to get the atmosphere a little unstable,” National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Liscinsky said of the expected 20-degree increase in temperature.

On Wednesday, meteorologists are predicting an 80 percent chance of strong, possibly severe thunderstorms in the afternoon to early evening.

Parts of Georgia might see tornadoes. Locally, hail and winds reaching 20 mph and higher are expected to be the biggest threat, though the possibility of tornadoes is still being analyzed.

After the storm weather passes, another cold front will push temperatures back into the 50s for the rest of the week.
