Cooler June temperatures will be gone soon

A warm year has gotten a cool break so far this month, with the first six days of June bringing unseasonably low temperatures – but no new records.

According to the National Weather Service, the average daily temperature so far this month was 70.9, or 5.4 degrees below normal values recorded at Augusta Regional Airport.

The month’s coolest and warmest temperatures both occurred Sunday, when a morning low of 52 climbed 36 degrees to a high of 88.

Record low temperatures for early June are typically in the upper 40s, with record highs above 100 degrees.

Warmer temperatures are forecast for the coming week, with morning lows in the upper 60s to around 70.
