North Augusta names new city administrator

Todd Glover

NORTH AUGUSTA — Todd Glover will be North Augusta’s new city administrator, Mayor Lark Jones announced.

Glover replaces Sam Bennett, who left in September.

Glover, who served three years as assistant Aiken County administrator, will begin his new job in early January.

He has lived in North Augusta for nine years with his wife, Jeanie, and daughters Reagan, 13, and Morgan, 10. He said the quality of life led him to North Augusta.

“My wife and I were looking at where we wanted to build a house, and we started looking at quality-of-life issues,” he said. “North Augusta appealed to us … we love the neighborhoods, the recreation programs, the Greeneway and the Public Safety Department has an excellent reputation too.”

He said he’s excited to get involved with some of the city’s ongoing projects, such as Northview Park being built on Murrah Road.

“I think that’s going to be a great addition to the city,” he said.

Glover said working for North Augusta is one of the best jobs in the state because it has a well-run government and excellent reputation, he said.

North Augusta has done a “fantastic job of maintaining what they have,” Glover said, pointing out that the city has not had to cut services or lay off employees.

He said maintaining North Augusta’s level of excellence in a difficult economy will be his focus.

Jones said Glover stood out from a crowd of candidates.

“It was unusual that he was right here under our noses, but a very good coincidence,” Jones said in a news release. “Todd knows folks on both sides of the river and is fully abreast of all the issues affecting our city. I look forward to his leadership and continue to see a bright future for North Augusta.”

Glover, an Aiken County native, graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1996. In 1998, he received a master’s in public administration from Augusta State University, where he is now the chairman of the community advisory program for the Master of Public Administration Program.
