The search for the next leader of the Columbia County School System begins today.
Applications for the school superintendent position will remain open from today until Oct. 17.
Current Superintendent Charles Nagle announced in late July that he would retire after the 2012-2013 school year. Nagle, who served in the post for six years, has spent 37 years in education.
Applicants must have 10 years experience, including time spent as a district-level administrator, school-level administrator and teacher, according to a list of minimum qualifications for potential candidates.
Also specified on the criteria list is that applicants have a “good moral character” and an education specialist degree in Administration and Supervision or Educational Leadership.
