The Richmond County Board of Education will discuss an agreement with the East Central Health District and East Central Regional Hospital during its monthly board meeting Tuesday.
The board will vote on a partnership with the organizations that would convert a school bus to operate with an Ambubus Kit, which is used to transport special-needs patients and casualties.
The school system would donate the bus; East Central Regional Hospital would maintain the bus and install the Ambubus Kit; and the East Central Health District would supply the kit.
The outfitted bus would be able to transport up to 18 patients on stretchers, potentially replacing 18 ambulances in the event of a disaster or evacuation, according to the board agenda.
Other items on the agenda include recognizing maintenance and facility school of the year; an update on special education disproportionality; approval of a principalship at Copeland Elementary School; and the approval of Capital City Bank in School program.
The board will meet at the central office at 864 Broad St. at 6 p.m.
