Waynesboro Police arrest 7 in shooting death of Bonner

 

Seven of 11 people sought in the April 14 shooting death of a Waynesboro man are in custody.

Mandrekgus Delvin Bonner, 26, was fatally wounded outside his home at 107 E. 11th St., just before 1 a.m. Another person, whose identity has been withheld, was also shot.

Today, the Waynesboro Police Department and other agencies including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued arrest warrants for the suspects, who face charges from felony murder to false statement.

Five of the suspects – Joseph Bennett IV, Keleon Dequan Burdette, Levonta Cooper, Shaquille Rashad Freeman and Travis Antonio Walker – were charged with aggravated assault and murder.

Police also charged Clifford Freeman with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Amishia Mells with giving false information.

Police continue to search for four remaining suspects.
