Man arrested when traffic stop turns up 400 bootleg DVDs

A man was arrested Sunday after he was discovered with more than 400 bootleg DVDs during a traffic stop.

Richmond County sheriff’s Sgt. Monica Belser said an officer pulled over Demetries Banks, 42, about 10:45 p.m. on Martin Luther King Boulevard for loud music and nonfunctional taillights.

During the stop, the officer also noticed a duffel bag in the vehicle. A total of 425 discs containing 99 movies were packaged in sandwich bags in the duffel.

Belser said Banks would not give the officer information about himself and failed to obey commands. After a struggle, Banks was arrested on charges of criminal reproduction of recorded material or video, obstruction of a law enforcement officer, driving without a license, excessive noise and a taillight violation.
