Woman shot in leg during robbery attempt


A woman is recovering after being shot Monday morning during an attempted armed robbery on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The victim told police she was standing in the 2100 block about 5 a.m. when four unidentified men in a dark Pontiac Sunfire tried to rob her. While running away, she was shot once in the lower right leg.

Police continue to investigate the shooting.

Foundation stopped giving to ‘alt-right’ movement leader in 2015

The Augusta-based Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area severed ties with an organization tied to a white nationalist in 2015 after discovering the group’s “mission and purpose,” the nonprofit’s President and CEO Shell K. Berry said in a statement.
