60-year-old Augusta woman punched in head

A 60-year-old Augusta woman is recovering after being punched in the head Friday afternoon at a local business.

Approximately 1:10 p.m., deputies responded to Fishbowl Lounge on the 2200 block on Lumpkin Road in reference to simple battery, according to an incident report from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim told deputies an unidentified suspect was sitting at the front door of the business when the victim asked if she was OK. The suspect said she was fine, but didn’t leave. A short time later, the victim again approached the suspect and asked her to move away from the doorway, at which time the suspect stood up and struck the 60-year-old on the right side of her head with a closed fist, the report stated.

The victim stated she has security video of the incident, but was unable to immediately retrieve it.

The suspect is described as a black female, 5-foot-2, 130 pounds with an unknown tattoo on her face.
