First Richmond County homicide in 2014 still unsolved

Aiken Jr.

What happened to Willie Harris Aiken Jr.?

That’s the question police are asking six months after he died from gunshot wounds.

Aiken was the first homicide of the year and the case remains unsolved.

The 34-year-old was shot at least once at his home, 413 Colorado St., just before midnight on Jan. 13. He died the following morning at Georgia Regents Medical Center.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release Friday asking the public for help in solving the case.

“We just want to get it back into the public eye and see if we can get some more information,” Capt. Calvin Chew said.

Aiken is one of three unsolved homicides from this year.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Sgt. Paul Godden at (706) 821-1045, Investigator Walter Garrison at 821-1035, or any violent crimes investigator at 821-1020.
