An accident in the parking lot of Belk’s in North Augusta caused an SUV to overturn Saturday afternoon, leaving drivers of two vehicles shaken but unharmed.
The driver of a Saturn Aura failed to stop at the proper place and hit a Nissan Xterra at low speed about 2:30 p.m., North Augusta Public Safety Officer B.J. Clark said. The Nissan slid for a few yards before hitting a curb and overturning.
“It surprised me, that’s for sure,” said John Talbert, the driver of the Nissan. “I was only going about 15 mph and she wasn’t going fast at all. Next thing I knew I was upside-down.”
Since the accident happened on private property, no citation was issued.
Saturday’s accident marked the second time a vehicle has rolled over at the shopping center. Clark said a previous accident involving a small car and a van sent two people to the hospital.
