Richmond County Sheriff's Office offering reward in armed robbery case

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $5,000 reward following an armed robbery Monday at a gas station.

Two victims were held at gunpoint at the BP gas station on 2061 Gordon Highway, according to a statement from Sgt. Michael McDaniel. The suspect – described as a black man between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8, 130 to 140 pounds – was last seen wearing long plaid shorts, a black hooded sweatshirt and a camouflage scarf over his face. He was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect held the clerk and a customer at gunpoint, while obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, McDaniel’s statement said.

The man fled and was seen by witnesses entering the passenger side of a newer-model green Chrysler 300.

The Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the North Leg BP station, is offering the reward for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Office at (706) 821-1020 or dispatch at (706) 821-1080.
