Arrests continue in the shooting Saturday evening of a 14-year-old boy outside Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches on Agerton Lane.
Richmond County sheriff’s officials said today two juvenile boys, ages 14 and 16, also have been charged in connection with the crime. Police already had charged three people in the shooting that left Tyrese Deondre Hammond, of Hephzibah, with a bullet wound to the upper chest.
Police were called to the shopping center across from Regal Cinemas about 10:15 p.m. after five shots were fired in an apparent drive-by shooting, Lt. Lewis Blanchard said.
A vehicle in the parking lot and windows on a vacant storefront and Jimmy John’s were damaged by the gunfire.
Brandon DeShawn Hilton, 17, of Augusta, was booked into the Richmond County jail Sunday on charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and criminal damage to property in the first and second degrees.
On Monday, police charged Alexis Marie Blowers, 23, of Augusta, and Emmanual Jarnell Smith, 21, of Grovetown, with felony counts of aggravated assault.
