Deputies use stun gun on Hephzibah man



Deputies stunned a Hephzibah man with a Taser on Friday following an armed robbery in Richmond County.

Quantavious Deshane Wright, 18, was taken into custody at 5:43 a.m. after a struggle with Richmond County deputies, according to an incident report.

Approximately 5 a.m., deputies responded to a call about an armed robbery. Upon arrival, 22-year-old Michael Tickle told deputies he had been robbed at gunpoint by Wright at a residence on Hiwatha Drive.

After deputies surrounded the home, Wright was seen attempting to escape through a rear-bedroom window, the report said.

A pair of officers pulled Wright through the window, at which time the suspect continued to resist. After briefly bringing Wright to the ground, the suspect got up and attempted to flee, the report stated.

During the arrest, Wright grabbed a deputy in the groin area, prompting an officer to shock him with the Taser, the report said. .

Investigators and deputies found a .22 caliber handgun under the couch in the living room during a search of the Hiwatha Drive home, the report said.
