Homicide suspect named, sought


Police are searching for a suspect in a Wednesday morning homicide on Second Avenue.


Witnesses identified 26-year-old Daniell Frank Simmons, also known as Donkey, as the shooter, according to a news release. Simmons, of the 2000 block of Lanier Road, is facing charges of murder, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police said Simmons and Curtis Lemont Carter, 22, were arguing on Second Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when Simmons pulled a handgun and fired several shots fatally wounding Carter.

Carter was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center where he died at 12:55 a.m.

Simmons is considered armed and dangerous. He has multiple tattoos on his upper body including stars and the number 3 tattooed on his face.
